Ernst Ludwig Kirchner was one of the students that formed Die Brücke, which consisted out of art students who made expressionist paintings. He used his paintings to give across the same message that many other expressionists did; he wanted to show how anxious and monotonous he felt about the modern way of living. Something that Ernst Ludwig was known for was making expressionist paintings of the human figure and would often hire models to pose for him.
